Curriculum Documents Outline Key Learning Objectives

There’s a new place on the District website to help parents better understand the concepts, content and skills taught in FISD classrooms. Frisco ISD recently published scope and sequence documents that provide an overview of the curriculum used by educators district wide in each grade level and core subject area, as well as the order in which the topics are covered. This information was traditionally available through individual educators, but is now listed on the District website as well. FISD curriculum is based on learning objectives outlined by the state in the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).

FISD Celebrates Fine Arts Award and Eyes Expansion

Frisco ISD is a three-time winner of the District of Distinction Award from the Texas Art Education Association. The honor recognizes districts whose visual arts curriculum inspires creativity, supports social-emotional learning and connects students to the community. A new, student-centered performing arts center planned with the City of Frisco and developer Craig Hall will only help FISD build on that success and provide new opportunities for students to showcase their talents.

Advanced Placement Program Continues to Grow

Six out of every 10 graduates in the Frisco ISD Class of 2021 passed at least one Advanced Placement Exam during their high school career. Of the 19,176 AP Exams taken in the 2020-21 school year by FISD students, 71% of the AP Exams earned a score of 3, 4 or 5, making the student eligible to earn college credit. Through AP coursework, students explore topics they are passionate about, improve critical thinking and writing skills and save money by earning college credit in high school. The District currently offers 32 AP courses that are open to all high school students.

FISD Marks Special Observances, College Week

A variety of events and activities are planned at Frisco ISD campuses in advance of Patriot Day and Texas First Responders Day this Saturday, Sept. 11 and next week for Constitution Day and Celebrate Freedom Week. From moments of silence to classroom or advisory lessons, students will remember those who died in the terrorist attacks, honor first responders who serve others and learn about the ideals on which the United States was founded. In addition, FISD will mark College Week Sept. 13-17 with several informational events for middle and high school families. Be sure to check out the schedule to learn about financial aid, college admissions and to attend one of our virtual college fairs!

The Frisco ISD Marching Band Showcase is back this fall with performances from all 11 high school marching bands. Students will present their competition marching shows on Tuesday, Sept. 28 starting at 6:30 p.m. at Ford Center at The Star. General admission tickets are $5 each.
