Due to rapidly changing conditions related to COVID-19, Frisco ISD will offer a temporary online option this fall for FISD students in grades EC-6. An online option will not be offered to students in grades 7-12 since the COVID-19 vaccine is authorized and strongly encouraged for all individuals age 12 and older.
Students who enroll in the online learning option will have a two-day delay to the start of the school year and will begin online classes Monday, August 16. On-campus instruction will continue to be available as the default learning environment for students in all grade levels starting with the first day of school next Thursday, August 12; if your student is attending school in person, no action is needed at this time.
Online learning will be an option for grades EC-6 at least through the first nine weeks of school and will be reevaluated and extended as necessary until a vaccine is authorized for children under the age of 12. Once a vaccine becomes widely available for children under 12, online instruction will no longer be offered.
Families who are interested in having their EC-6th grade student(s) attend classes online will need to submit an application to enroll no later than this Thursday, August 5 by 11:59 p.m. A submitted application will automatically enroll a student in the online learning option and unenroll the student from in-person learning. If a parent previously unenrolled their student from Frisco ISD and would like to participate in online learning for the fall, a parent will need to re-enroll their student as a ‘new student’ and select online learning within the new student registration form.
For more information about this opportunity, as well as answers to Frequently Asked Questions, instructions on how to enroll and important special education disclosures, please review this page on our District website. This page is still being developed and will be updated as new information becomes available.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and American Academy of Pediatrics recommend all individuals over the age of 2 wear masks in schools, regardless of vaccination status. Masks are encouraged but are not required in Frisco ISD in accordance with executive orders from Texas Governor Greg Abbott. Frisco ISD COVID-19 protocols for the upcoming school year can be found on our District website.
We thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we navigate these times. The District is hopeful for as normal a school year as possible and looks forward to welcoming your student for another great year of learning.
