FISD Honors 2021 Teachers of the Year

Congratulations to the Frisco ISD Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year! This week, FISD was honored to celebrate outstanding teachers from all 72 campuses who were chosen by their peers to represent their school in the District-wide Teacher of the Year selection process. Please join us in celebrating the winners, Newman Elementary kindergarten teacher Cathy May and Frisco High School social studies teacher Melody Nicholson! These educators are tremendous examples of the dedicated individuals who work with students each day.

Apply Now to the Frisco ISD Virtual School

The application to apply to the full-time Frisco ISD Virtual School is open now! Parents of students entering grades 3-12 who would like them to participate in virtual instruction for the entirety of the 2021-22 school year are asked to complete a form via the District’s secure parent portal, called The Gateway. To assist with planning and hiring for the new school, parents are encouraged to complete the form as soon as possible. The District will continue to communicate details about this new option as pending state legislation related to online learning is finalized. You can now find the planned list of course offerings within the FISD Virtual School on our District website.

Look for Invitation to Register Returning Students May 5-11

Parents listed as primary contacts for students who enrolled in Frisco ISD prior to April 9 will receive email invitations next week to begin the online registration process for the 2021-22 school year. Parents of students who enrolled after April 9 can expect to receive their invitation emails the week of June 7. Parents should complete the form regardless of their plans for next school year: returning to the same campus zone, moving to a different campus zone or out of Frisco ISD. In addition to the form, proof of residency and any updated immunization records are required to complete the process for returning students. Please note: there is no choice of in-person or virtual learning within the registration form. Parents who would like their students to participate in virtual instruction during the 2021-22 school year should complete a separate application for the FISD Virtual School.

Don’t Forget to Vote! Election Day is Saturday

It’s not too late to cast your ballot in this spring’s local elections. Election Day is this Saturday, May 1, and polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Remember, on Election Day, Denton County voters must vote at their precinct location. Collin County voters can vote at any election location in Collin County. Two places on the Frisco ISD School Board are on the ballot along with city and Collin College trustee races.

Community Support Makes Book Drive a Success

Frisco ISD is grateful to everyone who supported this spring’s “Every Student, One Book at a Time” campaign benefiting economically disadvantaged students in FISD. The effort set out to collect 8,500 new books, and the final count was 9,203! In addition to countless contributions from individuals and a $5,000 donation from the Frisco Education Foundation, large donations from CrossFirst Bank and Atmos Energy helped the campaign cross the finish line. The new books will be distributed privately to students across the District during the last week of school so they have at least one book to engage with over the summer.
