Frisco ISD is excited to continue to grow its full-day prekindergarten program, which expanded from half-day to full-day in the 2020-21 school year.
This fall, Pre-K classes will be housed at 11 locations across the District, including 10 elementary schools and the Early Childhood School, up from nine locations in 2020-21.
“Our full-day program has eliminated many of the barriers that used to keep many qualifying families from participating,” said Melissa Ellis, assistant director of early childhood for Frisco ISD. “This school year, despite COVID-19, FISD saw more than a 50% increase in Pre-K enrollment, and we expect those numbers to continue to increase.”
Thanks to the added convenience of full-day classes and Pre-K locations around the District, Frisco ISD enrolled more than 875 Pre-K students this school year, an increase of more than 300 students from the year before.
“We have been so excited to get these students into our classrooms, both in-person and virtually,” Ellis said. “Data shows that the earlier we can get students started with us, the better the outcomes.”
