Preparations Continue to Welcome Students on Campus Sept. 3

Frisco ISD is eager to welcome all students who chose in-person learning back to campus next Thursday, Sept. 3. A number of enhanced health and safety protocols will be in place to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. That includes the required use of facial coverings based on the level of COVID-19 activity. Parents/guardians are required to screen their students for symptoms each day prior to sending their student to school, and students must stay home if symptoms are present. COVID-19-related incidents should be reported to the school nurse. All parents and employees will be notified when one or more members of their campus community, who was present on campus during the infectious period, has tested positive for COVID-19.

FISD Releases Updated Varsity Football Schedules

Frisco ISD is looking forward to the glow of Thursday and Friday night lights and seeing students in their element on the field starting Sept. 24. View the updated varsity football schedule here. Game attendance will be limited in following guidelines from the Texas Education Agency and University Interscholastic League. As a result, FISD will not sell season tickets this year. Priority for individual tickets will be given to the families of athletes, cheerleaders and members of the band and drill team. The District also plans to stream live broadcasts of most sporting events held at FISD athletic facilities during the 2020-21 school year.

Parents, Make Sure to “Opt In” for Text Messages

Frisco ISD parents and guardians are encouraged to subscribe to text message alerts from the campus and District. FISD utilizes the messaging service on a limited basis for a variety of timely communications including school closures/delays as a result of inclement weather. The feature will also be utilized, along with emails and phone calls, in the event of a school closure related to COVID-19. Not sure if you are signed up? Opt in by texting “Y” or “Yes” to 67587 to ensure you receive the text messages.

TEA Outlines Education Rights and Responsibilities During COVID-19

Frisco ISD, like all public school districts in Texas, is required to adhere to certain state laws and requirements regarding public education. This extends to our response to COVID-19. The Texas Education Agency has compiled this document which outlines the options parents have when returning to school as well as what families can expect of their public school system. With some exceptions, students must attend at least 90% of their daily classes in order to get credit for the class and/or be promoted to the next grade. This is true whether your child attends school on campus or whether your child receives instruction remotely.

Meals Available “To Go” for Virtual Academy Students

The Frisco ISD Child Nutrition Department will distribute meals "to-go" upon request for students continuing with online learning through Virtual Academy. Breakfast and lunch will be distributed once a week at Lawler Middle School for all days school is in session. Pick-up will be on Thursdays from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Families must sign up in advance, and students will be charged for the meals based on their meal status – free, reduced or full price.

Help Frisco ISD Provide School Supplies to Students in Need

Did you know that Frisco ISD has more low socioeconomic status (SES) students than 80% of the districts in Texas have in their total student population? FISD is hoping to distribute

up to 8,500 school supply kits this fall to students in need. You can help give students a strong start to the school year by purchasing one kit for $7.50 and a backpack for $4.50. Purchases can be made through September 8 at this link. Families who need assistance with school supplies should contact their campus counselor to benefit from this program.
