Summer Program to Help Students Prepare for Next Grade

As the 2019-20 school year officially comes to a close, Frisco ISD wants to thank parents for their patience and partnership throughout the last several weeks of eLearning. No matter what school looks like in August, FISD is committed to supporting students as they transition to the next grade level. This summer, incoming secondary students in sixth through twelfth grade will have the opportunity to get a jump start on their upcoming classes through a free Summer Bridge program.

“We want to do everything we can to help students enter their next classes with confidence,” said Tiffany Carey, director of innovative learning.

The online program, which is not for credit and will not be graded, is offered in addition to the District’s traditional summer school programs. Classes begin June 8.

Teachers Leverage Unprecedented Time as Learning Tool

The District understands that the pandemic created a number of less-than-ideal circumstances for students, teachers and families. But amid the trials were new ways for teachers to connect learning to real life and help students develop critical social and emotional skills. A number of schools encouraged students to reflect on their feelings through writing and videos, while teachers of subjects like World Geography and Economics leveraged current events to support the curriculum.

Frisco ISD to Host Graduation at Toyota Stadium

Frisco ISD will recognize the Class of 2020 during outdoor graduation ceremonies tomorrow, Saturday and Monday at Toyota Stadium. The events will include social distancing and other preventative measures in light of the coronavirus. As in past years, the events will be live streamed online and recorded for those who are unable to attend. Makeup dates have been reserved in the event of inclement weather. Follow for updates. FISD salutes the Class of 2020 and looks forward to celebrating these outstanding students.

Child Nutrition to Provide Free Meals into June

The Frisco ISD Child Nutrition Department will continue distributing free meals to families in need every Wednesday through June 24. Five days worth of breakfast and lunch will be provided at one time. Previous participants are asked to sign up here to continue the service, and others are welcome to opt in at this time as well. Parents are asked to follow specific guidelines to ensure the safest, quickest transfer of meals.

Options Available for Credits in Online School Fees

Due to cancelled events this spring, many FISD families have had credits issued back to them in Online School Fees, the online payment system for specific programs, courses and activities. Those balances will automatically carry forward and remain available to be used in the future for any student associated with an account. If you do not wish to carry your credit balance forward, you can request a refund, transfer the balance to your student's meal account or donate the balance to the Frisco ISD Child Nutrition Department to help feed students in need. The link below will take you to the request form to make one of those choices. If you request a refund, please allow 4-8 weeks processing time.
