Frisco ISD is expanding eLearning tutorials to elementary students. In addition to eLearning virtual office hours, all K-12 students now have access to afternoon and evening tutorials.

The online tutorials are facilitated by Reaching All Innovative Learners (RAIL) teachers, the District’s student-centered online program that started in the 2019-20 school year.

Students across the District can now participate in tutorials with Frisco ISD teachers, for free, via a video conferencing platform.

Through the online meetings, a Frisco ISD teacher can answer questions, provide clarity and support lessons. Students can pop in and ask a quick question or they can stay longer and get concept overviews.

“While middle and high school students have had access to online tutorials this school year, we are excited to expand the offering to elementary students in all of the core subject areas during eLearning to help accommodate teacher, parent and student schedules and provide additional support for our community,” said Tiffany Carey, director of innovative learning.

Frisco ISD has been implementing an eLearning curriculum since March 17 and is continually evolving the program to make sure it meets the needs of a variety of students and their families.

Sometimes students just need a quick reteach, additional strategies or content clarification. No matter what, Frisco ISD teachers are ready and willing to help.

“We received feedback from parents and wanted to take action,” said Pennie Kimbrough, elementary math coordinator. “We know elementary students require more support and when parents are working from home, it can be difficult to support young learners.

“The District wants to make the knowledge and expertise of a classroom teacher available after the workday for families. This student-centered approach will increase the flexibility of the support to students and parents outside of eLearning virtual office hours.”

With a parent present, elementary students can now participate in online tutorials for all core subjects, including:

  • Kindergarten-5th grade Math

  • Kindergarten-5th grade Science

  • Kindergarten-5th grade ELAR

  • Kindergarten-5th grade Social Studies
