Teachers Awarded Money via DonorsChoose.org
When FISD teachers need a little extra oomph for a project or initiative for their classroom, they turn to DonorsChoose.org. Congratulations to these teachers who were awarded funds this month thanks to the help of Horace Mann.
Ogle Elementary teacher Angela Norton was awarded funds for her “time for kids to read nonfiction books” project. She was presented a check by Horace Mann for the purchase of a Time for Kids magazine subscription that will help expose her students to nonfiction literacy while building independence. Norton is always looking for ways to instill a passion for lifelong learning and growing her literacy-rich classroom benefits all of her students immensely.
Congratulations to Christie Elementary teacher Christina Moffatt, who was awarded money via Donors Choose for the Calming Corner in her classroom. A check was presented by Horace Mann, who provided the final funds for the project. Moffatt’s students each hold a special place in her heart and she knows that all students are reachable and teachable. She looks forward to the tools that her students will have access to in order to cope, along with a place where they can write about their feelings using what they love, technology.
