Calendar Set for the 2020-21 School Year

Frisco ISD will extend the school day by 10 minutes next school year in order to ensure a dismissal prior to Memorial Day for years to come. The extra time will provide more opportunities for instruction, acceleration, remediation, enrichment and social-emotional learning. FISD weighs multiple factors when developing a school calendar and strives to strike the right balance between what works best for parents and staff, while keeping student learning at the forefront of decision making.

Students Recognized with Highest Possible ACT and SAT Scores

Nearly 30 members of the Frisco ISD Class of 2020 were honored this month for achieving the highest possible composite score on either the ACT or SAT college entrance exam. The number of students achieving this remarkable feat continues to climb, along with average ACT and SAT scores in Frisco ISD, which far exceed state and national averages. In March, all high school juniors will have the opportunity to take the SAT during the school day at no cost as part of an effort to further enhance post-secondary readiness.

Frisco Education Foundation Pays Community Support Forward

Thousands of people turned out Nov. 2 to support the Frisco Education Foundation, and by extension Frisco ISD, during the annual FEF 5K, Fun Run & Festival presented in memory of Gary Burns. The event is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Foundation, which is celebrating its 20th year. FEF turned around and handed out nearly $70,000 in grants to FISD educators this month across 30 campuses. The grants support innovative classroom projects that would not otherwise be funded by the school district.
