October Rotary Spotlight Students Named
Congratulations to seniors Hunter Anderson and Jillian Goldberg of Frisco High School, who were named the Rotary Students of the Month for October 2019. Anderson is in the National Honor Society and on the swim team. He volunteers with broadcasting and works at Shake Shack. He would like to major in civil engineering upon graduation. Goldberg co-founded the FHS Asian Culture Club and participates in student council, National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. She tutors students in her free time and would like to double major in business and technology.
Frisco High Marching Band Places at Contest
The Frisco High School Marching Band placed at the Don Hanna Memorial Marching Band Contest in Denton on Oct. 12. The band placed second in preliminary and third in finals competition among 19 other bands, many of which were from 6A-classified schools. The group was evaluated based on their musical and visual skills, as well as the design of their marching band show, "Portals." Congratulations to the FHS band that works hard to foster musical growth, teamwork and learning will be supportive of others in competitive environments.
Frisco ISD Students Attend Ag Awareness Day at the State Fair
Frisco ISD students attended the Ag Awareness Day at the State Fair on October 8. This is an annual event where 4H, FFA and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America students from across Texas celebrate the state’s rich agricultural history. While there, FISD students participated in a canned food drive, including Lebanon Trail High School’s FCCLA students that donated 145 cans.
Frisco Association of Retired School Personnel Donate Books
The Frisco Association of Retired School Personnel (FARSP) visited Wester Middle School in support of their reading initiative. FARSP donated over 300 books to the school mainly to its special education students. The additional books will be used by the students at Wester Middle School.
