Help FISD Gauge Community Interest in Full-Day Pre-Kindergarten

Frisco ISD will utilize a community survey to help plan for the expansion of Pre-Kindergarten from a half-day to full-day program for eligible four-year-olds starting in the 2020-21 school year. Several factors contribute to the eligibility for Pre-K, including whether the student is the child of an active-duty military member, is economically disadvantaged, has difficulty comprehending the English language and more. There may also be opportunities for students who don’t qualify for the free program to participate in a tuition-supported program. To aid in the planning process, the District has developed a survey, available in both English and Spanish, to gauge broader interest in the program and plan for enrollment over the next several years.

FISD Looks to Add National Defense Cadet Corps Program

After years of research, Frisco ISD has applied to host a Navy National Defense Cadet Corps (NNDCC) program as soon as the 2021-22 school year. Currently, none of the branches of the military are approving new JROTC programs due to a lack of federal funding. A National Defense Cadet Corps (NDCC) program is virtually identical to JROTC except it is primarily funded by host schools. This will allow FISD to implement and start building a program prior to applying for a JROTC program. The District is excited to provide additional opportunities for students to prepare for their future – whether they are bound for college, career or the military.

Frisco ISD Aims to Fill Custodial Shortage

Frisco ISD has more than 75 job openings for school custodians – more than one for every campus. The District will host job fairs on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 4 and 5 to help address the shortage. FISD offers a number of work benefits, including paid training, health coverage, vacation and sick time and the ability to enroll children in FISD schools. The District also contracts with three outside staffing agencies, including a new company brought on board earlier this month, to aid in the recruitment and placement of school custodians.
