Sonntag Teacher Awarded Money from Scholastic
Congratulations to Sonntag Elementary second grade teacher Jean Teague who was awarded $250 for her classroom library from Scholastic Book Club. Teague’s sweepstakes entry was selected from more than 124,000 submissions. She plans to order as many high-interest books for her classroom as she can so that students can “shop” and fill their independent reading book boxes.
High School Students Attend Tapia Say STEM Camp
Frisco ISD students, including those from Heritage and Lebanon Trail high schools, were among a select group of students from around the state to attend Tapia Say STEM Camp at Rice University over the summer. The students experimented with hands-on STEM projects, such as building miniature wind turbines out of household items. At the same time, students enhanced their communication skills by learning how to simplify complicated STEM ideas via graphic drawings and an end-of-camp oral presentation – all while experiencing life on a college campus.
