Campuses Recognized as Healthy School Zones
Congratulations to Bright Academy, Centennial High School and Christie Elementary School for being selected to participate in the Healthy Zone School Program. This program is a joint effort of The Cooper Institute and United Way of Metropolitan Dallas to promote healthy practices in school.
These campuses will receive $1,000 in funding for physical education equipment and $5,000 in promotion of physical activity, nutrition and health activities to further health and wellness initiatives. These three campuses join more than 25 other schools across Frisco ISD who were selected for the program based on their current health practices as well as future plans to expand efforts in their school and community.
Educator Team Wins CodeLaunch
Talley Elementary Principal Jamie Peden and Bledsoe Elementary Gifted and Talented teacher Kelly Starnes won CodeLaunch, a national business startup accelerator and pitch competition that helps connect startups to resources.
Peden and Starnes’ learning curriculum, 3GSTRONG, is focused on growing students’ social and emotional skills through learning Grit, Growth Mindset, and Grace. The animated characters lead K-5 students in how to control their emotions and overcome obstacles. Congratulations to this team of FISD leaders who are making waves in Frisco and beyond!
