Pearson Student Takes the Gold
Pearson eighth-grader Laura Nguyen competed at the USA Taekwondo National Championships in Minneapolis. She won gold and bronze medals for the state of Texas.
Lebanon Trail Volleyball Team Wins Showcase
The Lebanon Trail High School volleyball team opened the season in a big way earlier this month by winning the Marauder Showcase in Flower Mound. Lebanon Trail, which has a senior class for the first time this season, won the two-day event that included Marcus, Grapevine, Amarillo and five-time state champion Hebron. Lebanon Trail had two players on the All-Tournament team, Lexi Abbey and Rayna Williams, and the Blazers’ Tyrah Ariail was named Most Valuable Player.
Students Attended Lone Star Leadership Academy
Students from across Frisco ISD attended a weeklong camp that allowed them to develop leadership skills while experiencing learning in school through visits to notable and historically significant Texas sites. Students were nominated by educators to participate based on leadership ability, academic success and community involvement. Congratulations to these schools who sent students: Borchardt Elementary, Bright Academy, Clark Middle, Gunstream Elementary, Isbell Elementary, Lawler Middle, Lebanon Trail High, Maus Middle, Newman Elementary, Ogle Elementary, Pioneer Heritage Middle, Scoggins Middle, Sonntag Elementary, Stafford Middle and Trent Middle schools.
Memorial Student Invited to High School Aerospace Scholars Program
Congratulations to Fiona Millan, a senior at Memorial High School, who completed a STEM-based course as a NASA High School Aerospace Scholar in the 2018-19 school year and was invited to intern at the NASA Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center in Houston over the summer. Millan was nominated by her state legislator and was one of 270 high school juniors across the state to be part of this unique opportunity.
