Students Explored Careers at iWork Youth Career Exploration
Interns in the Frisco ISD 18+ Transition program connected with area employers, developed social media skills and practiced real-world skills during mock interviews. These students had the opportunity to network with colleges, potential employers and a number of community resources during iWork. Students have been exploring a variety of career paths in their internships as they prepare for the transition from school to work.
Rotary Recognizes Students of the Month from Lebanon Trail
Congratulations to Frank Ingalls and Audrey Burch of Lebanon Trail High School who have been named the Frisco Rotary Club Students of the Month. Ingalls is a junior who participates in technical theatre and has been recognized as Outstanding Technician. Ingalls hopes to attend the University of Michigan and continue his studies in theatre. Audrey Burch is a junior who founded the Stomp Out Stress Club and co-founded the UNICEF Club. She has been awarded the TrailBlazer of the Year and the Rising TrailBlazer and participated in numerous organizations including Yearbook, DECA, Tech Theatre and the Junior Frisco Women’s League.
Schools Celebrate Lunch Heroes
Between preparing healthy meals for Frisco ISD students, adhering to strict nutrition standards, navigating student food allergies and offering service with a smile, school nutrition professionals were celebrated across the District today. Thank you to everyone in the Child Nutrition Department for your continued dedication to students and staff every day.
Trent Student Wins PTA Reflections Award
Edward LoCicero, a sixth grader at Trent Middle School, was surprised this week by his school and PTA with the Outstanding Interpretation Award. Out of tens of thousands of students across the state, Edward is one of only seven students to receive this award - the highest honor given by the Texa PTA for the Reflections art program. His visual arts entry, “My Support Heroes Team,” was chosen based on how well his entry and artist statement portrayed this year’s theme, Heroes Around Me.
Frisco ISD Octathlon Teams Earn State Ranking
Congratulations to the Centennial, Frisco, Heritage, Independence, Liberty, Lone Star, Reedy, Wakeland high school octathlon teams who ranked statewide in the Texas Academic Octathlon competition this week. These high school teams are in the top 40 of the state. Congratulations on a job well done.
Essay Wins Centennial Student Scholarship to Collin College
Congratulations to Centennial High School senior Sogool “Venus” Zolfagharian, who was surprised at school with a scholarship covering one year of tuition and books at Collin College. She attended a seminar offered by InTouch Credit Union on financial planning and wrote the winning essay in the scholarship contest.
