Wester Student Plays Carnegie Hall
Joshua Jung, an eighth grade oboist at Wester Middle School, performed in a recital at Carnegie Hall with some of the best young wind and brass musicians in the country through the American Protege International Woodwind and Brass Competition. Joshua is the Principal Oboist in the Wester Wind Ensemble and was named Principal Oboist in the Region 24 All Region Band earlier this year.
Reedy Librarian Inspires Through Social Media
The American Association of School Librarians has recognized Reedy High School librarian Nancy Jo Lambert as a Social Media Superstar and Curriculum Champion. Lambert’s librarian blog keeps the community informed and inspires other librarians throughout the country.
Track and Field, Golf Teams Win District Titles
The Heritage High School track and field teams won both the boys and girls team championships at the District 9-5A Meet held this week at FISD Memorial Stadium. This is the second straight year that Heritage has won both the boys and girls titles. Liberty High School was second among both the boys and the girls.
At the District 9-5A Golf Tournaments, Lebanon Trail and Wakeland high schools were the team winners. Lebanon Trail won the girls title at Firewheel Golf Park in Garland, while Wakeland earned the boys championship at Bridges Golf Club in Gunter.
Reedy Seniors Named April Rotary Spotlight Students
Cooper Damm and Joshua Antonini of Reedy High School are the Frisco Rotary Club Students of the Month for April 2019. Cooper is part of the Independent Study and Mentorship program, National Honor Society, cross country and Project Lead the Way’s engineering classes. He is interested in pursuing mechanical engineering and nuclear systems at Auburn University. Joshua participates in Academic Decathlon, debate, National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society. He plans to major in economics.
