Frisco ISD Leads the Nation in Dyslexia Accreditation
FISD is the first public school district in the United States to receive international accreditation to independently train new Certified Academic Language Therapists (CALTs). CALTs have a deep knowledge of the structure of the English language and serve students with dyslexia and related learning disorders.
In Frisco ISD, CALTs help more than 1,000 children learn to read, write and spell. The accreditation will address a shortage of dyslexia therapists and help the school district meet current and future student needs. LEARN MORE
Trustees Adopt New Online Payment System, Substitute Incentives
Starting next school year, Frisco ISD will transition to new companies to receive online payments for expenses like school lunch and campus activities. The change, approved by the School Board this week, will reduce processing fees for debit and credit cards and provide a free payment option using electronic checks.
Trustees also approved two incentives designed to increase the number of job openings filled by substitute teachers. Starting April 1, subs can earn extra pay by working on a Monday or Friday or by working more than half of the work days in a two-week pay period. WATCH THE VIDEO
