Reedy Football Team Advances to State Quarterfinals
While only in its third season of varsity play, the Reedy High School football team will play Saturday in the 5A Division II state quarterfinals -- the fourth round of the University Interscholastic League (UIL) playoffs. The Lions, who earned their first three playoff wins ever this season, will take on Aledo High School, which has won six state titles in the last nine years. Kickoff for the matchup of undefeated teams is Saturday at 4 p.m. at Northwest ISD Stadium in Justin (1937 Texan Drive, Justin, TX 76247).
Five Frisco ISD high schools qualified teams for the playoffs: Frisco, Independence, Lone Star, Reedy and Wakeland. Frisco advanced to the second round and Lone Star made it to the third round.
Heritage Counselor Honored by Statewide Association
Denine Hammonds, a counselor at Heritage High School, has received the 2018 Distinguished Service Award by the Texas Counseling Association for her service to local and state counseling organizations. She will be congratulated at the Board meeting on Monday, Dec. 10.
FISD Football Players Earn All-District Honors
The All-District superlatives and first and second teams for 5-5A Division I, a football district that includes Centennial, Heritage, Independence, Liberty, Lone Star and Wakeland, have been announced. The announcement for 7-5A Division II, which includes Frisco, Lebanon Trail, Memorial and Reedy, will be announced later. Congratulations to all the honorees, who are listed here.
