ISM Student Has Paper Chosen for Smart Cities Conference
A paper written by Tanya Shiramagond, senior at Liberty High School, has been chosen to present at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Annual Smart Cities Conference in Kansas City. Shiramagond will present research conducted for her final product in ISM last year entitled “Integration of Renewable Energy into Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure.” She is the only high school student selected for the honor.
September Rotary Spotlight Students
Sara Sadri and Cody Perry, both of Frisco High School, were honored by the Frisco Rotary Club on September 13 as Rotary Students of the Month. Sara is the daughter of Ben and Ginny Sadri and Cody is the son of Cornell and Trelita Perry.
Both students are involved campus leaders. Sadri is president in the 1902 Service Club, president and cofounder of the Persian Culture Club, a Texas Girl State delegate and a student ambassador for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Perry is captain of the varsity basketball team, a member of the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Senior Class president, a Texas Boys State delegate and active in HOSA. Both are in National Honor Society.
Frisco High Senior Receives Team Behind The Team Scholarship Award
Frisco High School senior Pierce James was presented with a $500 scholarship on September 14 as the first recipient of the DXL Frisco Bowl's Team Behind The Team Scholarship Program presented by Town & Country Roofing. Winners are judged on their ability to showcase school spirit, sportsmanship and unwavering support for their school’s football team.
FISD seniors will have the chance to win as much as $3,000 in scholarships this season as part of the scholarship program. The $500 recipients from each school will have an opportunity to participate in a video contest to win an additional $2,500 scholarship, which will be awarded at the DXL Frisco Bowl at Toyota Stadium on December 19.
City Recognizes Audie Adkins
Audie Adkins, who is retired from the FISD Partners in Education Department, was recognized by the City of Frisco on September 18 with a proclamation of appreciation and official day in her honor for her leadership of the Frisco Public Library Foundation board.. Adkins and her husband Larry have moved to a rural area near Waco, but she has been an active community leader in Frisco for more than 20 years.
Boys State Delegates Recognized by Frisco City Council
The 2018 Texas Boys State delegates from Frisco ISD were honored with a proclamation at the September 18 council meeting. The young men were joined by members of the Frisco chapter of the American Legion, who stated that this group of students were exceptional and noted that a documentary is being made about Boys State and is expected feature delegates from Frisco ISD.
