FISD Fills Leadership Positions

Frisco ISD has named the following individuals to key positions at the campus and District level. These new hires were formally approved by the Board of Trustees this spring.

May 2018

Cory McClendon, interim chief student services officer, will serve as chief student services officer. McClendon previously served as director of human resources, a position he held since 2014. Previously, he was the principal of Maus Middle School. McClendon also served as assistant principal at Roach Middle School and as a teacher and coach at Centennial High School. He also has teaching experience in Plano and Wichita Falls ISDs. His bachelor’s degree is from Midwestern State University and his master’s degree is from the University of North Texas. McClendon is currently pursuing his doctoral degree at the University of North Texas.

Preston Hazzard, assistant director of fine arts since 2014, will serve as director of fine arts. Hazzard’s past experience includes director of bands at Liberty High School, Carrollton Creekview High School, Frisco High School and Denton High School. Before that, he was an associate band director in Lewisville ISD. Hazzard has held several leadership roles in Region 24 of the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) and maintains several other professional affiliations. He is a member of the Phi Beta Mu International Band Fraternity. His bachelor’s degree is from Howard Payne University and his master’s degree is from University of North Texas.

Erin Miller, principal of Frisco High School since 2015, will serve as director of secondary student services. Prior to becoming principal of Frisco High, Miller was the associate principal at Lone Star High School and an assistant principal at FHS, Lone Star and Liberty High School. She previously taught English at the middle and high school levels. Her bachelor’s degree is from Texas Tech University and her master’s degree is from Lamar University.

Thomas Hill, assistant principal at Griffin Middle School since 2014, will serve as principal at Griffin. Prior to becoming assistant principal at Griffin, Hill was a teacher and girls athletic coordinator at Fowler MIddle School. He was also a teacher and coach at Prosper and Frisco high schools, as well as in Allen ISD. His bachelor’s degree is from Texas Tech University and his master’s degree is from Lamar University.

Jessica Johnson, instructional coach at Phillips Elementary, will serve as assistant principal at Ashley Elementary. Her bachelor’s degree is from Oklahoma State University and her master’s degree is from Texas A&M University.

Cami Leal, teacher at Staley Middle School, will serve as assistant principal at Staley. Her bachelor’s degree is from University of Oklahoma and her master’s degree is from Lamar University.

Jason Matisoff, assistant principal at Shawnee Trail Elementary, will serve as assistant principal at Cobb Middle School. His bachelor’s degree is from The University of Texas at Dallas and his master’s degree is from Lamar University.

Karen McNeil, assistant principal at Maus Middle School, will serve as assistant principal at Frisco High School. Her bachelor’s and master’s degrees are from The University of Texas at Dallas.  

Michele Stokes, teacher at Carroll Elementary, will serve as assistant principal at the Early Childhood School. Her bachelor’s degree is from The University of Texas at Austin and her master’s degree is from The University of Texas at Arlington.

Melissa Weiss, teacher at Hunt Middle School, will serve as assistant principal at Vandeventer Middle School. Her bachelor’s degree is from Hardin Simmons University and her master’s degree is from the University of North Texas.

April 2018

Sherry Klingenberg, assistant principal at Ashley Elementary, will serve as principal at Bledsoe Elementary. Klingenberg has been the assistant principal of Ashley Elementary for four years. She began her career in education in 2000 as a middle school teacher in Mount Pleasant, TX. She became an assistant principal in 2014. She also served as a fourth-grade teacher in Prosper ISD, before moving to Frisco ISD in 2012, serving in the same position. Her bachelor’s degree is from University of Texas at Tyler and master’s degree is from Lamar University.

Ingrid Dodd, principal at Skyview Elementary in Richardson ISD, will serve as principal at Mooneyham Elementary. Dodd has been the principal of Skyview Elementary since 2011. She began her career in education in 2005 as a first-grade school teacher in Richardson ISD. She then became an assistant principal in 2009. Her bachelor’s degree is from University of North Texas and master’s degree is from Lamar University.

Jeffrey Bergman, teacher and coach in Aubrey ISD, will serve as assistant principal at Reedy High School. His bachelor’s degree is from Oklahoma State University and his master’s degree is from Lamar University.

Matt Falbo, secondary assistant principal in Allen ISD, will serve as assistant principal at Memorial High School. He began his career in education in 2007 as a teacher and coach in Prosper ISD. Falbo also taught and coached in Lovejoy ISD and taught in McKinney ISD. His bachelor’s and master’s degrees are from the University of North Texas.

Kenneth Gilchrist, athletic director in Whitney ISD, will serve as high school athletic coordinator and head football coach at Heritage High School. Gilchrist comes to Heritage from Whitney High School, where he was the head coach the last five seasons. In addition to his years at Whitney, Gilchrist has spent time as head coach at Caldwell, offensive coordinator at Duncanville and an assistant coach at Lake Travis, Cameron and Hempstead. His bachelor’s degree is from Louisiana Tech University.

Kiara Henderson, AP Physics teacher at Heritage High School, will serve as assistant principal at Heritage. Her bachelor’s degree is from the University of North Texas and her master’s degree is from The University of Texas at Tyler.

Dr. Kristen Perry, female athletic coordinator and varsity girls head basketball coach in Plano ISD, will serve as assistant principal at Memorial High School. She has 21 years of experience in public education and has taught all levels K-12, including earth science, physical education and health. Her bachelor’s degree is from Midwestern State University, her master’s degree is from the University of North Texas and her doctorate is from Texas Woman’s University.

Erin Schmuhl, instructional coach at Fisher Elementary, will serve as assistant principal at Talley Elementary. Her bachelor’s and master’s degrees are from Michigan State University. Her doctorate in educational leadership is from University of North Texas.

Melissa Soileau, Frisco ISD diving coach and seventh-grade science teacher at Fowler Middle School, will serve as assistant principal at Fowler. Her bachelor’s degree is from the University of North Texas and her master’s degree is from Argosy University.

Justin Wieller, math teacher and wrestling coach at Lebanon Trail High School, will serve as assistant principal at Lebanon Trail. His bachelor’s and master’s degrees are from Drexel University.
