HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WIN HONORS ON NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL STAGE

Frisco ISD students recently brought home medals from national and international academic competitions.

Hannah Lee, a junior at Wakeland High School, had the second highest individual score of all students competing at the United States Academic Decathlon National Finals. Three fellow Wakeland students – Jacob Fujihara, Lucious McDaniel IV and Oliver Shi – were named international champions in the Independent Business Plan team event at the DECA International Career Development Conference (ICDC).

Students from other FISD high schools won honors as well, including Lebanon Trail High School, whose Academic Decathlon team took sixth place overall in its division at nationals.

To help improve high school students’ health and prevent injuries, FISD is partnering with Baylor Scott & White and a performance healthcare system called Fusionetics, which analyzes a person’s movement efficiency and offers ways to improve it.

As part of the partnership, BS&W is also assigning a team physician to each District high school and providing free athletic pre-participation physicals to students on May 19 at its new Sports Performance Center in Frisco.
