Frisco Education Foundation Ranks 24th in the Nation

Jan 05, 2017

The Frisco Education Foundation has been ranked 24th in the nation among K-12 education foundations by the Caruthers Institute, a nonpartisan, nonprofit think tank and advocate for children’s issues. The Foundation was named second in its national division by the same study.

The Institute focused its Stepping Up study on the 200 largest school districts (by student population) and also included top-performing education foundations that serve smaller school districts. FEF was selected 24th out of 188 education foundations.

The Stepping Up study looked at eight categories to determine rankings: annual revenues, revenues per student, total assets, assets per student, investment income, total program expenses, expense per student and volunteers.

The education foundations were also placed into four divisions based on revenue in order to compare foundations of similar sizes. It was in that ranking that FEF came in second.

“The Foundation staff and board are very excited about this announcement,” said Foundation Director Allison Miller. “FEF has consistently worked to provide education opportunities for students and to support educators in doing their best for Frisco ISD students. This ranking will bring more attention to what we do and to our wonderful partners and volunteers.”

Miller said she hopes all who read about this ranking spread the news about the Frisco Education Foundation.

“We have a great story to tell and the story can be even better as more people step up with us to support students and educators,” she said.

FEF is a non-profit 501(c)3 not for profit organization. Established in 1999, it has awarded more than $4.2 million worth of scholarship funds to graduating seniors. It has also awarded approximately $550,000 in grants for “Great Ideas” to be put into action in the classroom.

The Foundation also coordinates with several corporate sponsors to host Mindbender Academy, a middle-school level STEM camp each summer.
