Summer Bridge

The Frisco ISD Summer Bridge Program offers students free online access to content designed to help them fill in learning gaps and prepare for success in the 2021-22 school year.

Subjects Offered

Content will be available in subject areas tested as part of the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR). This will allow students to either utilize their individual results from the STAAR 2021 spring assessments or take an online assessment at the beginning of a course to identify areas for growth and specific content areas to explore.

Because this opportunity is designed to help ensure students have mastered the concepts necessary to be successful in the next grade level, students will only have access to on-grade-level subjects where they have had prior instruction. For example, incoming seventh graders will be able to review and enhance their knowledge of concepts and skills covered in sixth grade, but they will not be able to preview material that is part of the seventh grade curriculum. Incoming ninth graders who took subjects with STAAR End-of-Course Exams as eighth graders will not have access to these subjects through Summer Bridge. Content will not be available to students entering sixth grade because they do not yet have access to the Edgenuity learning platform.

Program Structure

All of the content is for self-initiated mastery purposes and participation does not provide students with credit nor future STAAR/EOC exemptions. Students will have the option to choose from one of the two learning approaches to access the content available in their grade level:

Using STAAR Scores

In June, results from the 2021 STAAR spring administration will be available to parents via the texasassessment.gov website. See specific dates by grade level above. This webpage provides parents with a broad-level overview of how to read the STAAR report card.

For each assessment, parents will be able to see the specific parts of the curriculum, or elements of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), where their student struggled. This will allow students to pick and choose which reporting categories to focus on within the Edgenuity platform.

To target your student’s learning in the areas of greatest need, use these directions to access your student’s results. The video below shows you how to find detailed information about the questions your student answered incorrectly on the STAAR test, as well as how to match this information to learning resources within the Edgenuity platform.

With No STAAR Scores

If a student did not participate in the 2021 STAAR assessments, they may choose to begin their studies with an assessment that covers many of the major concepts, or grade-level TEKS, taught in Frisco ISD classrooms and assessed on the STAAR. These pre-assessments range in length from approximately 70-150 questions. Results from this assessment will customize a learning plan for the student within Edgenuity targeted at their individual needs and areas for growth. This is a great option for families who did not participate in the spring 2021 STAAR assessments but still seek feedback on their student’s progress during the 2020-21 school year as well as resources to help close any learning gaps before the new school year begins.
