The mission of the Legislative Leadership Committee is to learn how local, state, and federal governmental action impacts Frisco ISD, to connect with parents, teachers, administrators, taxpayers, and students, empowering them to engage with the Frisco ISD community, and recommend legislative priorities for adoption by the Frisco ISD Board of Trustees. 

Committee Chair(s): Megan DeWolfe and Danny Stockton 

Committee Description/Purpose: The purpose of the committee is to assist in developing the District's legislative priorities and to provide feedback to the Government Affairs department throughout the legislative session.

Committee Membership: The committee is made up of 90 members from 9 different stakeholder groups:

  •  10 Elementary Teachers – Application, appointed by FISD staff

  • 10 Middle School Teachers - Application, appointed by FISD staff

  • 10 High School Teachers - Application, appointed by FISD staff

  • 10 Other campus Staff – Application, appointed by FISD staff

  •  10 Principals – Appointed by FISD staff

  • 10 Central Admin – Appointed by FISD staff

  • 10 FEF/PTA members – Appointed by FEF/PTA

  • 10 Community Members Application, appointed by FISD Board of Trustees

Meetings/Estimated Time Commitment: The LLC meets roughly every two months on a Tuesday evening for 2 hours. 

Terms/Term Limits: Members serve in two-year terms following the legislative cycle. There are no term limits, but members must reapply every two years.

Appointment Timeframe: At the beginning of every odd-numbered school year (August/September 2029, 2021, 2023, etc). Individual seats that have been vacated may be filled throughout the year.
