Use of Face Coverings
Staff, visitors and students in 3rd through 12th grade will wear face coverings while at school and on buses, including in classrooms, except when campus protocols specifically permit their removal. Students in Pre-K through 2nd grade will wear face coverings in hallways, common areas, during arrival and dismissal and while waiting for or riding on a school bus and are strongly encouraged to wear face coverings in the classroom. This includes individuals who have previously tested positive for COVID-19 or been vaccinated.
Guidance from the Centers for Disease Control recommends that all staff, visitors and students wear face coverings while at school. Face coverings are strongly encouraged for all individuals at all times while at school and on buses.
Students’ individual needs will be addressed on a case-by-case basis. Requests for accommodations should be submitted to campus administration.
When a student is required by the protocols to wear a face covering, the face covering should completely cover the student’s nose and mouth and fit securely on their chin and the sides of their face. Face masks should have at least two layers. Face gaiters are permitted; however, if they are one layered, students are asked to create an additional layer by folding them over. Face shields are acceptable if used in combination with a face mask, if the student will not be within 6-feet of other individuals, or in certain situations where cloth face coverings are inappropriate as determined by campus administration.
