Payments

You can make a payment using any of the payment sources accepted for your district by either entering the details or by selecting one of your saved payment sources from your Payment Info menu. On your Dashboard, select Make a Payment, or expand the student/staff details of a person on your account and select Automatic Payment.

Yes, you may prepay in person at the campus café by cash or check. However, we prefer payments to be made online for several reasons:

  • It helps us provide quicker speed of service during meal times.

  • You’re in control. No chance of your student losing the money or forgetting to bring it to the café.

Should you choose to pay in-person, please help us by making the payment during breakfast when possible. Also, when writing a check, please include applicable student ID’s on the check.

SchoolCafé accepts payments by Discover, and credit/debit cards with the Visa or MasterCard logo, but you may also make payment via check or cash at your student’s campus.  Payments made via credit or debit cards are subject to a 3.5% transaction fee.

You may also make payment via ACH (electronic check).  There is no fee for payments made via ACH.

Our school district has established the following policy for accepting checks and collecting bad checks: For a check to be an acceptable form of payment it must include your current, full and accurate name, address, telephone number, driver’s license number and state, along with the student ID number of all students for which payment is being made.

When paying by check you authorize the recovery of unpaid checks and the recovery of the state allowed fee by means of electronic re-presentment. In the event your check is returned by the bank unpaid, checks will no longer be an acceptable form of payment for the remainder of the school year. Alternative forms of payment must be used instead of a check payment (cash, credit card, online payment). No temporary checks will be accepted.

Payments can be set up as either One-Time or Automatic (triggered any time your student's account falls below your pre-determined limit).

The SchoolCafe payments are immediately displayed in the pending payments area. Once SchoolCafe transfers the money to your student’s school or organization it is available for use. In most cases this is available within minutes but could take up to 48 hours. If you have made a payment, you may utilize the payment tracking arrows to ensure your funds have been applied and are ready for use. Once all arrows are highlighted, the school has received the funds and are ready for use.

Yes. If you make a payment online at SchoolCafe. you may pay for multiple items and/or multiple students in a single transaction.  Please note that the minimum total payment must be at least $20.00.

SchoolCafé charges the payment source you chose at the time of payment, and provides transaction information immediately. Depending on the payment source and your bank, there may be a delay of at least 1-2 days before the transaction appears on your bank statement.

Payments made online will generally be available to your student at the school within 20 minutes, although sometimes they may take up to 24-48 hours under certain circumstances.

Normally, the balance should reflect your payment immediately. SchoolCafé requires coordination and data transfer with Frisco ISD for both payment and sales information in order to complete the process. All payment and sales data should be on the site within 20 minutes of your payments, and usually no more than 24-48 hours if there is an issue with the network at the school.

Automatic payment is designed for users who like to replenish their student's cafeteria account whenever the balance falls below a specified amount.

To set up an automatic payment: Add a valid payment source to your account either through the Payment Info menu (in the 'Payment Sources' tab), or on the Automatic Payment pop-up itself in the expanded details of individuals on your Dashboard. On the Automatic Payment pop-up, select the payment amount to be replenished, the payment threshold, and the payment source. Add an expiration date for the setting that ends before the payment source expires.

The payment will not be approved and you will receive an email specifying the reason. You will then need to update the credit/debit card so that payments can be approved.

When a payment is processed and fails, whether it is a One-Time or an Automatic Payment, all Automatic Payment settings associated with the failed payment source will be removed. You will be notified of this by email and may need to re-enter Automatic Payment settings for your students.

For either One-Time or an Automatic Payments, SchoolCafé adds a small fee to all online payments made (not including any applicable bonus amount). This is done in order to provide you with features such as detailed purchase history from the school cafeteria, low balance reminders, fast payment processing and more. And, as you may expect with other online services (such as purchasing movie or concert tickets), these fees cover the operational and administrative costs of providing the convenience of paying online. The convenience fee information is 3.5% and is displayed on each payment page. If you have any questions regarding how it is calculated, please contact friscocafe@friscoisd.org.

If the declined card is saved in your Payment Sources, it may be removed. Any Automatic payments using this credit card may be removed.

Yes. The minimum TOTAL payment must be no less than $20.00. The $20.00 may be divided between more than one student account, but the minimum combined total must be at least $20.00.

If you wish to make a payment less than $20.00, you may do so with cash or check in your student’s campus cafeteria.

Account Management

First, ensure you have the 6-digit student ID for each student in your household. Student ID’s can be obtained by contacting the front office of your child’s campus. Second, visit www.schoolcafe.com/FRISCOISD and follow the on-screen instructions.

SchoolCafé provides the capability to set individual Low Balance limit amounts for each of your accounts. If the balance of any account goes below the limit, SchoolCafé will send you an email.

In an effort for every child to have the meal of their choice, the Child Nutrition department utilizes the School Messenger system to call households that have an elementary or middle school student with a low balance. The best way to avoid low and negative balance phone calls is to sign up for automatic payments at www.schoolcafe.com/FRISCOISD. This service is free! You may opt out of these calls by submitting this online form. Please allow 24-48 hours for the restriction to take effect. If you have requested your number to be blocked in the past, it is still blocked.

Please log in to your SchoolCafé account. Occasionally, outside factors may cause disruption of this service. You may also contact your cafeteria supervisor to obtain a print out of activities. It is free to use SchoolCafe if you would like to monitor your student's account or apply for Free and Reduced Priced Meals. It is also free to set up low balance alerts to be sent to your phone or email.

First, it is important that you understand the Privacy Policy before you add a student or staff to your account, in order to understand how data is shared between your school district and SchoolCafé. In addition, you will need: A school district-provided Student ID for the student, name of the school in which your student is enrolled.

Ensure that all information entered matches the information on file at the school district. Sometimes, you may be entering a PIN when the district is requiring you to enter the Student ID, and these might be two different numbers. If you are still unable to add a student, contact your school district to verify student details. You can find their contact information on the Support page of your SchoolCafé account.

Students can be added or removed using “Add/Delete” students on the home page once you log in.

Parents who wish to limit their child’s spending may do so by placing restrictions directly in SchoolCafé, or by completing an Account Restriction Form and returning the form to the Child Nutrition Programs District Office at 12050 Rolater Road, Frisco, Texas 75035 or friscocafe@friscoisd.org. This form is in effect only for the school year in which it was submitted.

Each student has their own individual Student ID number. If siblings attend the same school, they would still need to use their individual Student ID/Pin when purchasing a meal in the cafeteria. Multiple children can be registered on a single SchoolCafé account, and parents can add funds to all children within a single district in one easy, secure transaction.

We receive federal funding for the school lunch program, and to ensure that children select healthy meals, the Federal Government requires that students select foods according to our menu plan. If a child does not select a reimbursable meal the school district does not receive funding for any portion of the meal. In this case, students are charged a la carte prices for items selected. Consequently, they could actually pay more for less food.

General

This again relates to federal guidelines and federal funding. Because we offer a choice of entrees, the student must independently select a reimbursable meal. We can offer, but not serve, so that is why we have to ask faculty not to add additional items to student trays. We cannot make changes that seem like we are forcing students to take full meals to increase our federal funding. In summary, teachers may suggest not tell or force students to take items offered.

We survey parents and students to see what they want us to serve, and we only serve snacks that meet the nutritional guidelines set by the federal government. Snack sale revenue is used to update kitchen equipment, assist with maintenance cost, and various other kitchen upgrades. Many parents want their children to be able to purchase a snack to eat after school, etc.

However, parents who wish to limit their child’s spending may do so by placing restrictions directly in SchoolCafe, or by completing an Account Restriction Form and returning it to the Child Nutrition Programs District Office at 12050 Rolater Road, Frisco, Texas 75035 or friscocafe@friscoisd.org. This form is in effect only for the school year in which it was submitted.

After creating an account in SchoolCafe, you may view your student’s account balance 24/7 and monitor their purchases. You may also contact your campus cafeteria supervisor and request a printout.
