About Our Program
Students in FISD are served by a nationally distinguished, "District of Excellence" Child Nutrition Program as designated by the School Nutrition Association, formerly ASFSA. The district of excellence recognition ensures that nutrition education, administration, communication, operations, and marketing of FISD's program meet their goals to serve healthy, delicious foods. FISD meals are analyzed for nutritional content and meet the RDA for each age/grade group. Student and parent input are utilized for menu adjustments annually. Healthy snack choices are provided and nutrition education classes are a part of the curriculum as the Child Nutrition Department works with educators to help students learn about nutrition and exercise as part of a life-long lifestyle. The FISD Child Nutrition Department is self-supported by the meals and items sold in campus cafeterias. An average of 16,000 meals and meal equivalents are served daily.

Forms
Parent Lunch Account Preference Form
The Child Nutrition department understands that you may want to limit daily spending of your child. Elementary cafeteria policy already limits students to the purchase of 1 snack and 1 beverage with their meal. This policy does not prevent a student from returning to the line during their lunch period to purchase another snack or beverage. To set spending limits on your child’s account, please complete this form and return it to the cafeteria manager.

Parents May Choose Not to be Notified of Lunch Account Balance
In an effort for every child to have the meal of their choice, the Child Nutrition department utilizes the School Messenger system to call households that have an elementary or middle school student with a lunch balance below $2.00. The best way to avoid low and negative balance phone calls is to sign up for automatic payments at www.paypams.com. This service is now free! If you would like to remove your number from receiving low and negative balance phone calls, please send an email to removeme@friscoisd.org. Include the phone number, student name and student ID. If you have requested your number to be blocked in the past, you need to resubmit the request via email since all requests prior to August 24, 2007 have expired. Please allow 24-48 hours for the restriction to take effect. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Convenient! “NetCash” Payment Machines Are Here!
Frisco Independent School District’s Child Nutrition Program is working to make school meal services convenient for parents and students alike. New and innovative technology is helping to make School Lunch the best lunch!
“NetCash” payment machines are convenient and simple to use. Middle and high schools have Net Cash payment kiosks for meal account access. These payments kiosks allow students to access balance information and deposit money into lunch accounts throughout the day. Students will no longer have to worry about slow lines created by students forgetting to prepay. This means more time for eating and less time waiting.
Complete applications online! Parents can enjoy the convenience of completing applications for free and reduced-priced meals from the comfort of your home. Parents may access and complete lunch application information by logging onto the school meals section of the Frisco ISD website. Once the online application is submitted, parents must return the signed form to the campus cafeteria manager or mail to the Child Nutrition office at 7159 Hickory Street, Frisco, TX 75034. Applications are processed immediately upon receipt, now waiting.
Automated balance notification, NetCash Payment Kiosks, and online lunch application processing are just a few examples of how Frisco ISD is working hard to make enjoying school meal periods convenient and enjoyable for our residents.

Lunch Program Basics
All USDA/TDA nutrition programs have their basis on nutrient standards. The newly implemented nutrient-based planning process used in FISD organizes foods into three groups - entrees, sides and milk. Here is how it works:
Elementary Lunch -
Two or three entrees are offered, students must select 1.
A variety of sides are offered, students must select 1 or may select 2 side items
A variety of milk is offered daily. Students may, but are not required, to select a milk.
Students may select a variety of 2-4 items, including the Entree, to receive the meal at the unit price of $2.00. For example:
1 entree, 1 side and 1 milk (three items) or 1 entree, 2 sides, and 1 milk (4 items) or 1 entree, 2 sides (three items) or 1 entree, 1 side (two items) or 1 entree, 1 milk (two items)
Any selection that exceeds four items will be charged at the ala carte price.
Secondary Lunch
Two or three entrees are offered, students must select 1.
A variety of sides are offered, students must select 1 or up to 3 side items.
A variety of milk is offered daily. Students may, but are not required, to select milk.
Students may select a variety of 3-4 items, including the entree to receive the meal at the unit price of $2.25. For example:
1 entree, 1 side and 1 milk (three items) or 1 entree, 2 sides and 1 milk (four items) or 1 entree, 3 sides and 1 milk (five items) or 1 entree, 2 sides (three items) or 1 entree, 3 sides (four items)
Any selection that exceeds five items will be charged at the ala carte prices.

Child Nutrition - Questions and Answers
My child seems to run out of money in their lunch account sooner than I expect, why are they charged more for ala carte items than if they get the standard hot meal?
We receive federal funding for the school lunch program, and to ensure that children select healthy meals, the Federal Government requires that students select foods according to our menu plan. If a child does not select a reimbursable meal the school district does not receive funding for any portion of the meal. In this case, students are charged a la carte prices for items selected. Consequently, they could actually pay more for less food.
My child lost their lunch card – do I have to pay for a replacement?
Students PK through second grade may access meal accounts with the provided meal card and/or student ID#. Meal cards will be replaced a maximum of 3 times. A $5 replacement fee is required after the third card or students may use their student ID# to access their meal account.
Why can't teachers tell my elementary child what to select at lunch?
This again relates to federal guidelines and federal funding. Because we offer a choice of entrees, the student must independently select a reimbursable meal. We can offer, but not serve, so that is why we have to ask faculty not to add additional items to student trays. We cannot make changes that seem like we are forcing students to take full meals to increase our federal funding. In summary, teachers may suggest not tell or force students to take items offered.
Why can't I bring homemade items into my child’s classroom?
Food brought in for birthdays or after school functions must be purchased from an approved FISD vendor. Homemade items cannot be brought into the classroom due to food safety and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) requirements.
Why are snack items offered?
We survey parents and students to see what they want us to serve, and we only serve snacks that meet the nutritional guidelines set by the federal government. Many parents want their children to be able to purchase a snack to eat after school, etc. Parents may notify the school cafeteria manager of any limits they wish to set on their child's meal account. Example limits are: $2.65/day, one (1) snack per day, or meals only/no extras, milk only, snack on Friday, extra entrée ok, or any other preference. Snack sale revenue is used to update kitchen equipment, assist with maintenance cost, and various other kitchen upgrades.
Why are there so many changes regarding parties and snacks at my child's school?
Please refer to the new Texas Department of Agriculture policies and information at:
Website: http://www.agr.state.tx.us
How can I find out what my student is eating at school?
You may see student transactions by creating a PAM’s account and selecting the Daily Purchasing tab. You may also contact your campus cafeteria manager for a printout to be sent by email.

Account Balances on PayPams.com
Parents may make payments to their children's lunch accounts using MasterCard or Visa credit cards. www.paypams.com was designed to provide parents with a safe and convenient way to pay for students' lunch online. No more lost lunch money! It also allows parents to be in complete control of money being applied to lunch accounts. Parents may look at account balances and purchases anytime. All payments received are updated in 24-48 hours to the campus. Parents choosing to pay online are eligible for bonus meal credits. These meal credits are no longer available for other methods of payment.
PAMS Lunchroom Payments
- Parents will need their child's student identification number. This is the six digit student identification number, not a social security number. This may be found on your child’s campus schedule and/or enrollment information.
- Parents will need a valid MasterCard, Visa, or Discover card for online payment.
- Parents may access balance and transaction history only if they have an account set up online.
Pin Numbers
All students use their district student I.D. as a "pin number". It is used each day in the cafeteria and for payments on lunch accounts by credit card. To help the serving lines move faster and allow more time for students to eat, children should memorize their PIN number. Please practice your children's PIN numbers with them at home.
Student Meal Charging Policy
Students attending the elementary and middle schools may charge a maximum of 2 meals. High school students may charge 1 meal. When a student has charged the maximum number of meals, the student will be given two side items (excluding potato products and macaroni and cheese) and the bread of the day with juice.
Celebrate Nutrition And Learning!
Kids that eat nutritious meals not only perform better in school, but in all aspects of their lives. We analyze our meals for their nutritional value, fat content, etc., and improve upon the standards demanded by federal guidelines. These analyses are available to you at your request.
One of our goals is to assist with nutrition education for our students, and we have made ourselves available to the schools.
