Head Football Coach & Campus Athletic Coordinator
Marty Secord was hired as head football coach/campus athletic coordinator at Wakeland High. He held that same position at Abilene Cooper High (5A). Prior to Abilene Cooper, Secord was the head football coach at Louisiana College (NCAA Division III – American Southwest Conference) where he helped restart a football program that had been discontinued in 1968. He has also coached at McMurry University in Abilene, Sherman High School and Athens High School. He has coached both offense and defense in football and has coached both girls and boys track teams as a head coach and assistant. The Austin College graduate (bachelor’s 1984, master’s 1985) played on the 1981 NAIA National Championship team and another conference championship team in 1984. At Austin College he played both punter and wide receiver, earning district and all conference honors. During his career he has been actively involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
