Wakeland finishes 4th in Lone Star Cup

Wakeland finished 4th out of 248 participating schools in class 4A, the University Interscholastic League (UIL) has released the update for the 2009-2010 Texas Lone Star Cup™. Honoring the best overall athletic and academic programs in Texas, the annual Texas Lone Star Cup™ is open to all UIL participant high schools. High schools accumulated points based on their team performance in district and state championships. Standings include: State and Area Marching Band, Team Tennis, Cross Country, Volleyball, Football, Swimming & Diving, Wrestling, Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball, Soccer, Golf, Track & Field, Softball, Baseball, Academics and One Act Play.

Textbook Information:

No BOOKS for home use will be distributed after September 3, 2010. Many Social Studies, Science, and Foreign Language classes will be using online textbooks in conjunction with a class set of books that will be available during class time.  However,  if a student chooses to have a hard copy of the books for their classes, they can receive them by coming to the book room located in upstairs E-Hall before or after school.  If you have any questions regarding this process, please feel free to call or email your child's Assistant Principal.

Senior Portrait Information:

Prestige Portraits is Wakeland’s official yearbook photographer.   For the month of August, Prestige Portraits is offering a free upgrade on your casual outfit session!  Get the Platinum session for the price of a Gold, and the Gold session for the price of a Silver.  Also, you will receive a free T-shirt if you complete a Platinum Session with us before August 21st! Step by Step Online Enrollment:

Please remember; after you complete the online enrollment process please print the signature page. Sign the signature page and return it along with a valid proof of residence (gas, water, or electric bill) to Wakeland High School.

Art Supply list:

Mr. Baker will be available until Sept. 3rd to take orders and money, thereby saving parents a trip into Richardson or Plano in order to pick up kits.  Art teachers will be distributing the kits from Monday Aug. 30 - Sept. 10. Please note: This option is intended to save parents time/money, they are not obligated to purchase supplies from this group. If you would like to see the list, please click here. Get Involved at WHS

WHS has a club/organization website that lists many of the clubs and organizations offered at WHS along with the sponsor(s) and meeting times. Check it out and join one now!

Thank you for being an active part of your child's educational experience. When teachers and parents work together, students are successful! One way we can work together is by parents utilizing the Home Access Center (eschool).

eSchool is a great tool to keep you on top of your student’s academic career as they become more independent and responsible. We hope you take advantage of this new form of student/parent involvement.
