2010 Congressional Art Contest
Earlier this year, Johnson invited high school students residing in the Third Congressional District to submit original artwork for the annual Congressional Art Competition. This contest was open to students enrolled in public, private or home schools.
March 9th,
it was announced that “The Dancer,” an oil painting by Liberty High School junior, Cindy Kuang, won the grand prize of the 2010 Congressional Art Contest for the Third District of Texas.
Kuang’s work will be shipped to Washington for display in the United States Capitol. In addition, Southwest Airlines will fly Kuang and a guest to Washington, D.C. in June to attend the official congressional unveiling celebration.
The third place prize went to “Chinatown,” an oil painting by Plano resident Ashley Chang, a senior at Liberty High School.

| Senior Prom Donations
We are looking for volunteers to donate items to be raffled off at the Liberty High School Senior Prom. We would like to be able to give our seniors something to put in their college dorm rooms or help them in the next phase of their lives. If you have any connections or are willing to help us out we would greatly appreciate it. Please contact Leslie Ray at rayl@friscoisd.org with your name and what you are wanting to donate. Thanks! |

Meningitis Information for Seniors
Attention, Parents of Senior Students:
Beginning January 1, 2010, the State of Texas now requires all first-time students going to college who will reside in on-campus housing to show proof of immunization against bacterial meningitis. Your student must provide documentation of having received the vaccination at least 10 days prior to the student taking up residence in on-campus housing.
Liberty will be providing a meningitis vaccine clinic on campus April 14, 2010. Please direct questions to your personal physician or Nurse Mikeska here at LHS. You may contact her at 469-633-5808 or email her at mikeskae@friscoisd.org.

The 2010 Census — a count of everyone living in the United States — is fast approaching! Census questionnaires will be mailed or delivered to every household in the United States in March 2010.
Your school’s funding depends on everyone responding to the 2010 Census questionnaire,
regardless of age, race, or immigration status.
Census data are used to determine funding for Title 1 programs, special education, college grant and loan programs, public transportation and road & community improvements.
Please click here to visit the Census 2010 website.

A Few Important Reminders
It is always really important to remind students and parents this time of year regarding the importance of the Student Code of Conduct (SCOC) and the Liberty High School addendum to the SCOC. The SCOC and the LHS Addendum are the foundation of the FISD Discipline Management Plan. They exist to assist in facilitating a safe and secure environment, conducive to learning for all students. With that in mind, we ask that students and parents take the time to review these documents and ask any questions that might arise. Questions or comments can be sent to LHS@friscoisd.org. |
