Shawnee Trail Staff

Star Welcome to Shawnee Trail!
The students and faculty of Shawnee Trail Elementary are excited about the community atmosphere we have established where students, parents, and staff members are part of an extended family. Our focus on academic excellence is incorporated into an environment where students learn life skills in addition to the core subjects that are taught in the classroom.

To bring a sense of community to our school, we participate in various events that provide great bonding experiences and bring the spirit of Frisco into our school. Shawnee Trail students start the day in our cafeteria for Good Morning, Shawnee Trail which provides the opportunity for students to feel a part of our school family. In addition, we encourage participation in community events such as homecoming activities, Gary Burns Fun Run, and Relay for Life. Service projects include the Angel Program, Food Drive, and Operation Clean Sweep

Hand in hand, together we can!Our students excel academically due to the commitment of the Frisco ISD School Board, staff and parents. Our comprehensive curriculum combined with high quality staff development for teachers is the springboard for providing students the tools needed to achieve success. Our partnership with parents extends our efforts beyond the classroom to ensure academic excellence. To meet the needs of all of our students, we offer numerous special programs including Reading Recovery, Special Education, Dyslexia, Gifted and Talented, Music, Art, Library and Physical Education. All of our students are immersed with the latest and most advanced technology every day.

We are very proud of our school. We know that you will find that it is a “little piece of Frisco.” Here you will find the future leaders of tomorrow!

Star From the Principal, Sherri Wakeland
As a Frisco High School graduate and a long-time resident of Frisco, I am honored to be principal of Shawnee Trail Elementary. My experience includes teaching in Coppell and Frisco and serving as an assistant principal in Frisco before being named principal at Shawnee Trail. I love contributing to the community that has given so much to me over the years!

We have a great faculty that is committed to achieving the high standards that residents of Frisco have grown accustomed to over the years. Our teachers are dedicated individuals who work together as teams in order to provide the best education for our students. In addition to our teaching staff, our administrative staff brings years of valuable experience to our school. Our assistant principal, Nancy Fatheree, taught in College Station and Frisco before joining our Shawnee Trail staff. Janet MacMillan, our counselor since 2000, is a veteran educator from Oklahoma.

At Shawnee Trail, we welcome parent and community involvement. We invite you to become a mentor, tutor students, or volunteer in our classrooms or library.

I’m sure that you will find the same family atmosphere and friendliness at Shawnee Trail that draws so many people to Frisco. We are proud of our school and hope that you will visit us anytime!
