FISD is Going Green - Infosnap
Frisco ISD is implementing an exciting new enrollment system this year from Infosnap. In an effort to reduce paper waste, improve accuracy, increase efficiency, and save parents time, we will be replacing some of our previous paper practices with online alternatives. This new process will begin in the 2010-2011 school year.

Parents will receive a letter and/or email from Frisco ISD with a unique website login and information on how to complete the required forms online. These forms will be required for student schedule pick up at the secondary level and to finalize class placement at the elementary level. This letter from Frisco ISD will not arrive until late July. Parents will be instructed to go online to fill out the information required annually. At the end of the online session, a signature page will be generated. This form MUST be signed and delivered to the school office along with a current proof of residence before August 18th. Acceptable proof of residence is a current electric, gas or water bill, lease or rental agreement or contract on a new home. Parents without internet access at home can utilize the public library; schools will also be providing opportunities for access and a district night for assistance and support will be communicated in the letter.

In another effort to save paper, reduce clutter in the schools, and to address safety concerns, FISD will utilize a community website folder for distribution of ALL non-school related materials from youth-oriented groups in lieu of distribution tables at each campus. With the above referenced online registration and re-enrollment process, we believe we will improve our ability to capture accurate email addresses of all our parents and this will enable us to more effectively send periodic eminders to link parents to the electronic folder displaying information on community, youth-oriented services and programs. This practice will take place with the beginning of the 2010-2011 school year. New information will be updated on the FISD website at the end of June.

CHANGE IN MEDICATION POLICY for 2010-11

The district shall not purchase oral nonprescription medication for students beginning with the 2010-2011 school year.

In order for students to receive district-approved oral nonprescription medication (Tylenol, Advil, Benadryl, Tums, Cough Drops, & Throat Strips) while at school, the parent/guardian must complete & sign the Request for Administration of Medication form & send the age-appropriate medication to school in the original container (smallest container available) & must be properly labeled.  The nurse may give up to 10 doses of the district-approved oral nonprescription medications.  When students take 10 doses of a medication, the parent/guardian will be notified a doctor’s note  will be needed in order to continue to give the student the medication.

All other nonprescription medications must have a doctor’s note and must be in the original container & must be properly labeled.  The parent/guardian must complete & sign the Request for Administration of  Medication form & send the medication to school.

All prescription medication that cannot be scheduled for other than school hours may be given at school.  We must receive a completed & signed Request for Administration of Medication form from the parent/guardian.  The medication must be in the original container & must be properly labeled.

A list of medications that are used in the school clinic is available on request from the school nurse. Please contact your school nurse with any questions.

Borchardt Named to TBEC Honor Roll for 2009

Ruth Borchardt Elementary has AGAIN been named to the Texas Business and Education Coalition (TBEC) Honor Roll for 2009. Of the more than 8,000 Texas public schools, less than 4% receive this honor.  The TBEC Honor Roll is the most prestigious award for sustained, academic excellence in Texas.  It recognizes schools that have demonstrated three years of consistent, high performance in all subjects compared to other schools serving similar student populations.  TBEC Honor Roll schools have the highest percentage of students performing at the state's most rigorous standard, commended, in every subject.  Through the dedicated work of both teachers and students, Borchardt have earned a place on the Honor Roll for the second year in a row! Way to go RBE!!!

Have you Filled a Bucket Today?

Ask your child this question and see what they say. Mrs. Whisenant started a new program about kindness and happiness and how when you say and do nice things for one another it makes you both feel good and therefore, "fills each others buckets". There will be weekly drawings for "bucket fillers" all year long.
