PLTW - Civil Engineering and
Architecture (CTEC) - (1 credit) 11th-12th
Prerequisite: Intro to Engineering Design, Principles of Engineering or PLTW Teacher Approval
This course will allow students to collaborate on the development of community-based building projects and conceptual design for project presentations. The emphasis is on a community design. This course is a portion of the FISD Pre-Engineering Program that is associated with “Project Lead the Way” Curriculum, that can lead to University Credit.
PLTW - Digital Electronics (CTEC) - (1 credit) 11th-12th
Prerequisite: Geometry, continued enrollment in college preparatory mathematics, Intro to Engineering Design Recommended
This is a course in applied logic that encompasses the application of electronic circuits and devices. Computer simulation software is used to design and test digital circuitry prior to the actual construction of circuits and devices. This course is a portion of the FISD Pre-Engineering Program that is associated with “Project Lead the Way” Curriculum, that can lead to University Credit.
PLTW - Introduction to
Engineering Design (CTEC) – (1 credit) 10th-12th
Prerequisite: Algebra I, continued enrollment in college preparatory mathematics
This course teaches problem-solving skills using a design development process. Models of product solutions are created, analyzed, and communicated using solid modeling computer design software. This course is a portion of the FISD Pre-Engineering Program that is associated with “Project Lead The Way” curriculum, that can lead to university credit.
PLTW - Principles of
Engineering (CTEC) – (1 credit) 10th-12th
Prerequisite: Geometry, continued enrollment in college preparatory mathematics, Intro to Engineering Design Recommended
A course that helps students understand the field of engineering/engineering technology. Exploring various technology systems and manufacturing processes helps students learn how engineers and technicians use math, science and technology in an engineering problem-solving process to benefit people. The course also includes concerns about social and political consequences of technological change. This course is a portion of the FISD Pre-Engineering Program that is associated with “Project Lead The Way” curriculum, that can lead to university credit.
