Credit by Examination for Middle School Grades Without Prior Instruction
Middle school students who wish to earn credit for a course in which they have had no prior formal instruction may test through credit by exam. Examinations for Grade 6-8 at Clark Middle School are criterion-referenced tests from thE University of Texas. Students must demonstrate 90% or higher mastery on the exam in order to earn credit. Courses taken for high school credit will not be computed in class rank. Students are encouraged to review the course study guide on the University of Texas website.
Fall examinations at Clark are scheduled in September. Important deadlines and dates:
- CBE Applications due August 28, 2009
- Fall test date will be September 7, 2009
Applications are available from the middle school counselor and must be returned to the counselor for processing. Parents should be aware that there are no exceptions available for students to test for acceleration and plan accordingly.
For students who move to the Frisco community at the start of the school year, every effort will be made to provide an opportunity for student to test during the second or third week of school.
There is no charge for testing. Students who register for an examination and do not take the examination will be assessed a fine equivalent to the cost of procuring the examination. Exam results will be mailed to the counselor after scoring is completed.

However, those students that will be impacted the most will be current 6th grade students. Your student’s immunization records will need to be updated as soon as possible, so that all students will be in compliance with the new state regulations. For more details, download an informational letter from Clark's Nurse Gilley.
