Discretionary Placements

First Placement
A minimum of 20 days. The student’s placement will be reviewed at 20 days and if they meet the guidelines below, they may return to their home campus. If they do not meet the guidelines, they will be reviewed at the beginning of the next three week grading period.

Guidelines:
1. They must maintain the highest behavior level, green, for the most recent 10 school days.
2. They must be passing all of their classes. 6th-8th Grade

Second Placement
A minimum of 40 days with the same review procedure as above.

Mandatory Placements

First Placement
A minimum of 30 days. The student’s placement will be reviewed at 30 days and they must meet the following guidelines. If they do not meet the guidelines, they will be reviewed at the beginning of the next three week grading period.

Guidelines:
Same as above with the addition of:
If the placement is for drugs or alcohol they must submit to and pass a voluntary drug test. Frisco ISD will provide the testing. These students must also attend a screening at Collin County Substance Abuse. The screening must be completed before they return.

Second Placement
An expulsion hearing may be held for the second mandatory placement in the same school year. The student’s home campus will determine appropriate discipline depending on the circumstances.

Students will not be placed for discretionary reasons the last three weeks of the semester unless the home campus can show that the student presence on that campus presents a danger.

Mandatory or discretionary placements will not be carried over to the next school year unless the home campus can show their presence constitutes a danger to other students.

All Title V Felony placements will serve 90 school days and may be carried over to the next school year.

*** The above placement days are guidelines only. Students may be placed for longer or shorter periods of time depending on many circumstances. Students must “earn” each day they are placed based on the A.E.P.’s level system. Students placed for off campus conduct defined as a felony offense in Title 5 of the Penal Code will be placed for a minimum of 90 school days.
