Mission Statement

A coach should focus on education first, and then focus on developing a student’s athletic abilities and making them positive role models, citizens, and gentlemen. The most important aspect a coach can do is aid in the total development of young men and women. Athletics is an extension of a student's classroom experience; the program develops the essential values that are of importance throughout life.

The qualities that we will stress as coaches are the ingredients we feel are necessary to be successful, not only in athletics, but also in all aspects of life. These ingredients include: commitment, effort, dedication, self-discipline, the desire to excel, high expectations, and a refusal to give up or quit, regardless of the obstacles that are placed in one's path. As a coach once said, "The will to win is not as important as the willingness to prepare to win." I have adopted that philosophy in my coaching.

As we attempt to win games and become successful on the court, we should never lose sight of the important task we have in developing positive characteristics in our athletes

Philosophy of Basketball

Together We Stand, Divided We Fall
As a Team and as a Staff

I Believe This Is Our Program, Not Mine, And Lets Get Our Varsity Into The Playoffs And Win District At All Levels. Remember The Varsity Is Our Team, The JV Is Our Team, And The Freshmen Are Our Teams. I Don’t Want The Kids Or Parents To Hear The Words I, Me, Or Mine, Come Out Of Any Of Our Mouths.

Offensive Philosophy
My offensive philosophy is to fast break and run. We try to be up tempo, to fast break after every make, miss, or steal. We do not run and gun; we run and take high percentage shots. The reason we run is to try and get our opponents outnumbered. If the shot is not there, we will look for our secondary break and get into our half-court offense.

Defensive Philosophy
Defensively, my philosophy is pressure. We try to apply as much pressure as possible to take the opponents out of what they have been working on and probably do best. The defense tries to be as disruptive as possible. It tries to force the offense into difficult trapping situations, to rush the offense into taking quick low percentage shots, and continually confront the offense with an aggressive defense. We like to change defenses to confuse the opposing team. I run multiply defenses ranging from man to match up zones. One thing my defenses have in common is they all have man principles.
