Centennial Teacher Named Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction

May 04, 2021

Congratulations to Centennial High School teacher Revenia Lock who was recently selected as a Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction by The National Society of High School Scholars. She was nominated by Jalen Sledge, a current student, for her outstanding dedication and commitment to excellence in the profession while being a role model to her students.

The Educator of Distinction honor recognizes exemplary educators whose passion and devotion inspire their students to grow and develop as scholars, leaders and citizens.

Lock is in her fourth year with Frisco ISD and seventh in education. She teaches several classes including entrepreneurship, social media marketing, fashion marketing, marketing and INCubatoredu. Lock is also the DECA advisor for Centennial and leads one of the larger DECA groups with 165 active members. Before her career in education, she worked at an advertising agency helping clients get the word out about their businesses.

“My favorite part of teaching is building relationships with each student,” Lock said. “You can often find me at games and performances because I feel it’s important to connect outside of the classroom.”

Lock has won grants from NSHHS before and feels that the organization has helped move her forward as a teacher.

“I am honored to help students grow into lifelong learners every day,” Lock said. “As an educator, each year gets better and better.

“I want to ignite a student’s interest in learning that will live long past their time with me in the classroom.”

As an Educator of Distinction, Lock is now eligible to compete for the NSHSS Educator of the Year award.

Congratulations to Lock who is an outstanding role model making a lasting difference in students' lives by encouraging them to strive for excellence, not just in their academic pursuits, but in all their endeavors.
