Former Frisco ISD Student Donates Books to Liscano Elementary

Liscano Principal Jena Salomon’s former student Kylen Granson wanted to do something to celebrate reading and the impact reading has on children. Through KG’s Kids, he promotes reading and donates books to classroom teachers. In his second donation to Liscano Elementary, he provided class sets of Black History Month books for classroom libraries.

When he was in 1st grade at Gunstream Elementary, Granson despised reading, but through a partnership with Ms. Salomon and his mom, it wasn’t long until Kylen started reading far more than playing video games. His passion for reading is a reminder of the impact a single teacher can make on a student. Granson plays football for SMU and hopes to get selected by an NFL team in a few weeks.

Reedy Senior Wins Grant for Yoga Ball Project

Reedy High School senior Emerson Palazzo and Reedy government teacher Judith Beckerman have partnered to win $3,500 through a Funds for Fitness grant from the Dallas Cowboys. This is the second grant the pair has won over the last four years. The funds benefit Palazzo's non-profit program BouncED, which provides yoga balls for special education classrooms. The yoga balls allow the kids to wiggle and fidget while still maintaining their attention on their lessons. To date, over 425 schools in North Texas have benefitted, including dozens in Frisco ISD. Great job!

Isbell Student’s Artwork Named a Top Five Finalist

Congratulations to Isbell Elementary School second grader Allison Chan who was selected as a finalist for her drawing Incredible Four in the ESS Education Staffing Art Contest. Best of luck in the competition!
