Frisco ISD is grateful for the seven members of the FISD Board of Trustees, who spend countless hours serving our community.
“You don’t have a great school district without a great School Board,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mike Waldrip at a reception honoring current and former Board members for their contributions to the school district.
Waldrip cited an article from Education Week which shows FISD grew more than 3,800 percent between the 1987-88 and the 2014-15 school years, the most in nation among districts with more than 20,000 students in 2014-15.
“That does not happen by accident,” he said, crediting a legacy of strong leadership for making Frisco ISD a destination school district for relocating families.
School Board members are elected volunteers who strive to make the best decisions possible for FISD and its students.
Current Board members include President John Classe, Vice President Chad Rudy, Secretary Anne McCausland, Bryan Dodson, Steven Noskin, Debbie Gillespie and John Hoxie.
“They care about kids deeply,” Waldrip said, thanking trustees for their service.
Also recognized at the reception were former Board members in attendance: Renée Ehmke, Libby Maus, Sam Roach and Jane Whitledge.
Members of the Reedy High School orchestra provided entertainment at the event, and schools from across the District decorated kites as their way of showing appreciation.
January is School Board Recognition Month. This year’s theme was “Helping Kids Soar to Success.”
