Frisco ISD-TV producers and their families celebrated season nine of the District’s popular student-produced media program at an end-of-year spotlight event on May 17.
Dressed up and enjoying an evening of splendor for their annual Frisco ISD Media Technology Showcase, the students each showed one of their favorite video pieces and also had the joy of their instructor Eva Coleman taking the time to comment on their individual strengths and talents.
Coleman was thrilled at the return of Frisco ISD-TV alum Alyssa Herzog, now weekend news anchor for CBS Radio at Dallas' KRLD NewsRadio 1080 AM as keynote speaker. Coleman took great pride in pointing out to parents in the audience that many of her former students are currently successfully employed in journalism and broadcast fields.
Herzog graduated in 2012 and attended Texas Tech University. She told the students that they will discover they have been very lucky to have had broadcasting classes at the level provided by Frisco ISD and the professional preparation for the real world from Coleman. Herzog described being in one of her beginning journalism/media classes when the professor asked her why she was in the class. He went to the faculty and told them she already knew what he was teaching and needed to be given credit and moved into the next level of study.
Awards were presented to all students but a few special ones of note were Erin Davis who was named CTE Center Advanced Audio/Video Production Student of the Year and Lauren Goodman who was named CTE Center Audio/Video Production Student of the Year.
As each student came up to receive awards and certificates, Coleman would extol their virtues and tell how she was already planning to continue pushing work or projects their way after graduation. “Once I’m in your life, I’m in your life for as long as you will have me,” Coleman said, leaving no doubt in parents’ minds that she knows her students by name and need and talent.
