FISD Student Artists Have Works Selected for Diversity Calendar 2017

Dec 09, 2016

July by Titania ViEach fall over 21,000 fifth through twelfth graders from Dallas, Frisco, Garland, Richardson, and Mesquite schools participate in the Dallas is Diversity Calendar Artwork Project. Students illustrate their ideas of how soccer promotes diversity with the calendar featuring holidays celebrated throughout the world. Thirteen pieces of artwork are selected, one for the cover of the calendar and one for each month of the year. Many Frisco ISD student artists have had work selected over the years.

Along with the publishing of their artwork, five students are chosen to receive scholarships for their outstanding talent and their vision of how soccer brings the world together.  The art teachers of the selected students each receive $200 to assist with purchase of art supplies.

Dallas is Diversity calendars are printed every year and distributed to the schools in each of the five school districts. Calendars are also mailed to friends of Dallas Cup and sponsors.

The following FISD students were chosen to have their artwork featured in the 2017 Dallas is Diversity calendar:

  • January - Natalia Burbano of Frisco HS

  • March - Hetvi Joshi of Roach MS

  • April - Nahomy Nevi of Staley MS

  • July - Titania Vi of Pioneer Heritage MS

  • September - Macy Edwards of Pioneer Heritage MS

  • October - Elena Wang of Fowler MS
