Two Frisco ISD music programs were ranked in the top ten in the state by the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA).
The Reedy High School Wind Ensemble finished in sixth place at the TMEA 4A State Honor Band Contest in July.
The band's recorded performance first advanced through the region and area rounds, where they had to place in the top two to reach the state level.
The sixth place finish was an incredible accomplishment by the first-year Reedy Band program, which was made up entirely of freshmen and sophomore student musicians in the 2015-16 school year.
The Vandeventer Middle School Chamber Orchestra was also recognized among the top ten in the state.
A recording from the group's spring concert was submitted to the TMEA Middle School Honor Orchestra Competition.
This competition had 23 middle school orchestra entries from across Texas. Vandeventer was ranked eighth overall in the contest.
This was Vandeventer’s first year to compete in this very elite competition.
