Adkins Receives Each Moment Matters Award

Nov 05, 2013

Frisco ISD Community Outreach Liaison Audie Adkins was honored by the Presbyterian Communities and Services Foundation on Friday, November 1 at the Each Moment Matters Luncheon benefiting Faith Presbyterian Hospice.

The Every Moment Matters award recognizes persons who exemplify the attributes of compassion, excellence in daily living, faith in serving, courage in empowering, educating and giving hope to others, and integrity.

The award was presented at the Hilton Anatole Hotel. Bishop TD Jakes was keynote speaker and Clarice Tinsley of Fox 4 News was master of ceremonies.

Adkins was nominated for the award by former Frisco Mayor Mike Simpson and his wife Sandy. Adkins came to Frisco in 1995 and accepted the position of executive director of the Frisco Chamber of Commerce. She led the chamber for 11 years, helping bring Frisco to the forefront of national attention for attracting business, new families and the reputation it has today as one of the best cities to live in the United States.

Adkins is known for her gift of building partnerships between businesses, non-profits and governmental agencies. Her current position with Frisco Independent School District allows her to utilize that talent to the betterment of the more than 46,000 students who currently attend Frisco ISD schools. As Community Outreach Liaison, she connects volunteers and businesses with campuses. The mentoring programs, school supply drives and volunteer support that grows from these partnerships make a difference in the lives of students.

She serves on numerous boards and is always willing to help any group whose mission is serving others. As the mother of four and grandmother of three, Adkins has always been an advocate for education.

Allison Miller, Director of the Frisco Education Foundation and the FISD Partners in Education program, has seen Adkins’ influence change lives.

"Audie brings an attitude of success to all she does. She brings businesses and volunteers together with our campuses in a way that makes everyone feel like family. She truly knows the names and needs of many of our students and she actively works to insure we meet those needs in the form of mentoring, providing supplies, and teaching by example. She is an excellent choice for this honor."
