Congratulations to the student journalists at Liberty High School who have been recognized by the National Scholastic Press Association with the Pacemaker Award!
For the sixth straight year, Wingspan, Liberty’s student news website, has been recognized in the online publication category.
The NSPA Pacemaker, one of the oldest awards for scholastic journalism, has a rich tradition. The association started presenting the prestigious award to high school newspapers soon after the organization was founded in 1921. Through the years, yearbooks, magazines, online sites and broadcast programs were added to the competition.
Entries are judged by teams of professionals based on the following criteria: coverage and content, quality of writing and reporting, leadership, design, photography and graphics.
Under the direction of Liberty High School journalism adviser Brian Higgins, Wingspan is a repeat winner of some of the biggest national honors in high school journalism, including the Pacemaker and several others.
Congratulations to all of the student journalists who work day in and day out collaboratively on Wingspan, and especially these student leaders:
Editors-in-chief: senior Aaron Boehmer, junior Trisha Dasgupta
Managing editors: senior Ana Cuen, junior Shreya Jagan, sophomore Caroline Caruso
Sports editor: Remi Williams
