The Frisco ISD Board of Trustees approved several key positions Monday night, as the District prepares to open four new schools this fall. Memorial High School, Lawler Middle School, Liscano Elementary and Talley Elementary will welcome students in August.
The new elementary schools will be led by two current Frisco ISD elementary principals:
Michele Lott, principal of Mooneyham Elementary since it opened in 2007, will serve as principal of Liscano Elementary. Lott began her career in education in 1993 and has taught first through fourth grades. Prior to Mooneyham, she served as the assistant principal at Shawnee Trail Elementary. Her bachelor’s degree is from Stephen F. Austin State University and her master’s degree is from University of Phoenix.
Jamie Peden, principal of Bledsoe Elementary since 2015, will serve as principal of Talley Elementary. Peden joined FISD in 2006 and taught several grade levels at Borchardt and Anderson elementary schools. She served as assistant principal at Mooneyham Elementary before becoming principal at Bledsoe. She has also worked in the private sector. Her bachelor’s degree is from Texas A&M University and her master’s degree is from Texas A&M Commerce.
FISD will name new principals for Mooneyham and Bledsoe later this spring.
Also approved Monday was the principal for Lawler Middle School, Travis Zambiasi. Zambiasi has served as assistant principal at Fowler Middle School since 2015. Previously, he was an English teacher and coach at Frisco and Wakeland high schools. His bachelor's and master's degrees are from Austin College. Zambiasi is expected to graduate with a doctorate in curriculum and instruction in November.
The principal of Memorial High School, Jennifer Redden, was named in 2016 and has been busy this year preparing for campus to open. Redden was previously the associate principal and assistant principal at Heritage High School, which she helped open as math instructional coach in 2009. She previously taught at Centennial High School and Highland Park ISD.
Joining her team at Memorial are:
Derick Roberson, who will serve as athletic coordinator and head football coach. Roberson currently works in the same position at Skyline High School in Dallas ISD. His 23 years of experience in DISD have included roles as elementary school teacher, middle school coach and offensive coordinator and college recruiting coordinator for the football team. He also served as an assistant athletic director with DISD. His bachelor’s degree is from Texas Tech University.
Jason Nitsch, who will serve as band director. Nitsch has 18 years of experience in education at the middle school and high school level. He currently serves as the director of bands at Fountain-Ft. Carson High School in Colorado. Nitsch is also an accomplished composer of original music for the field, stage and screen, with over 100 compositions in his current catalog and several dozen publications for band and orchestra. His bachelor’s degree is from Baylor University and his master’s degree is from Boston University. He is in the process of completing his doctoral studies in music education at Boston University.
Alma Campo, who will serve as lead counselor. Campo is currently a counselor at Heritage High School and has worked at Centennial and Liberty high schools as well. Previously, she taught Spanish and English. Her bachelor’s and master’s degrees are from Sul Ross State University.
