Collin County Junior Livestock Show Results

Congratulations to the students who participated and won ribbons and other awards at the Collin County Junior Livestock Show. Top prizes went to:

Heritage High School Coach Selected for Dallas ISD Athletic Hall of Fame

Chryste Gaines, who coaches track and field and cross country at Heritage High School, will be part of the inaugural class of inductees into Dallas ISD’s Athletic Hall of Fame. Gaines, a 1988 graduate of South Oak Cliff, competed for Team USA in two Summer Olympics and won a gold medal in the 4x100 relay at the 1996 Atlanta Games. Gaines will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on May 4.

Frisco High Student Video is Finalist in Statewide Contest

Congratulations and good luck to Frisco High School junior Amanda Lee, who has been named one of six statewide finalists in the high school division of the Take Care of Texas Video Contest. Lee’s 30-second video features ways young people can help protect the environment. The top three finishers will earn college scholarships.

Kudos to Bryn Roberts for Sharing Knowledge about Band Development

Over the winter break, Bryn Roberts, assistant band director at Reedy High School, was a guest speaker at The Midwest Clinic, an International Band and Orchestra Conference program, held in Chicago. She shared her experience and tips for building a culture of excellence in lower bands. Earlier this year, she had an article on the same subject published in Southwestern Musician magazine.

Reedy and Lebanon Trail Cheerleaders Place in Invitational

Reedy High School and Lebanon Trail High School cheer squads placed at the Mustang Invitational in Grapevine this month. Reedy cheer took third place in the 5A division contest and Lebanon Trail earned second place in the 4A division.
