FISD Swimmers Perform Well, Break Records at TISCA Meet

Dec 14, 2017

Frisco ISD's Bruce Eubanks Natatorium

Frisco ISD schools were represented well at the three-day North Texas 5A Texas Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (TISCA) Invitational that finished Saturday.

Wakeland High School was second in the girls team standings and third among the boys at the 40-school meet hosted by FISD’s Bruce Eubanks Natatorium. The FISD also had five winners in individual and relay events and a pair of swimmers who broke meet records.

Frisco High School’s Emily Sandwisch set a record in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2 minutes, 8.08 seconds. Reedy High School’s Michael Belair broke the record in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 51.64 seconds.

Lubbock High School won the girls team title with 266.5 points and Wakeland was second with 227. Texas High School, from Texarkana, won the boys team title with 258 points. El Paso High School was second with 225 and Wakeland was third with 200.

The Invitational had no bearing on postseason competition, but it featured many schools that will compete in the University Interscholastic League (UIL) 5A Region III meet in February. That meet will be hosted by the Eubanks Natatorium Feb. 2-3 and qualify swimmers for the state meet that is Feb. 16-17.
