Lone Star Football Team Continues Playoff March
Congratulations to the Lone Star football team, which has advanced to a matchup against Mansfield Legacy in the 5A Division II Region II final. Kickoff is Saturday at 2 p.m. at Gerald J. Ford Stadium on the campus of Southern Methodist University. Tickets are $10 and can only be purchased at Ford Stadium ticket windows. Children under age three are free.
Seven Schools Honored in Energy Competition
Frisco ISD campuses saved the District $168,700 by observing energy cost-saving measures this fall as part of the District’s 2017 Fall Energy Reduction Competition. The contest was conducted from September through the end of November. The first-place winners in the seven campus divisions include: Centennial High School, Griffin Middle School, Pioneer Heritage Middle School, Curtsinger Elementary School, Ashley Elementary School, Robertson Elementary School and Vaughn Elementary School. Pink Elementary School and Trent Middle School were winners in the video portion of the contest.
Liberty Theatre Students Garner Awards at State Convention
Liberty High School’s Madeline Slater was awarded Best Supporting Actress in a Main Stage Production for her performance in “Gifted” at the Texas Thespian Festival held at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine in November. The “Gifted” crew was awarded Best Overall Technicians, according to Heather Willingham, Liberty theater director. More than 1,500 students from International Thespian Society troupes all over Texas were in attendance at the Friday and Saturday shows.
Lone Star Takes Third at Percussion Contest
The Lone Star High School percussion finished third in Standstill Division 1 Red at the Lone Star Drumline Contest at Marcus High school in Flower Mound on November 18.
