Lone Star High School Football Team

Good luck to the Lone Star High School football team, which has advanced to regionals in the UIL State Football Playoffs after wins over Lovejoy and The Colony. The Rangers play Waxahachie at the Ford Center tomorrow afternoon. Find ticket information. The winner advances to play either Mansfield Legacy or North Forney next weekend in the regional quarterfinals.

National Hispanic Scholars

Frisco ISD is proud of its 21 seniors honored as National Hispanic Scholars by the College Board’s national program. Students from Centennial, Frisco, Heritage, Lone Star, Reedy and Wakeland high schools were recognized. Read more here.

Best Communities for Music Education

Representatives from Governor Greg Abbott’s office visited the Frisco ISD Fine Arts office just before Thanksgiving to deliver a plaque from the state of Texas to recognize the District for its 2017 Best Communities for Music Education award and honor all FISD music educators for their great work. Frisco ISD received the prestigious designation from the non-profit NAMM Foundation in April. Hazzard says the applause should go to all the teachers who make the FISD programs so strong.

Medical City Frisco Art Contest and Exhibit

Congratulations to Sarah Wilson of Purefoy Elementary School, Victor Espinosa of Staley Middle School and Jerah Sonne of Reedy High School on being named first place winners in the elementary, middle school and high school divisions of the annual Medical City Frisco FISD Art Contest and Exhibit. Several student works will be on display at the medical center at Frisco Square from mid-December through the end of January.

Frisco ISD-TV Journalism Team

Congratulations to the Frisco ISD-TV journalism team, based out of the Career and Technical Education Center, on earning sixth place in the Best of Show competition at the Journalism Education Association (JEA) / National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA) Fall National High School Journalism convention held November 16-19 in Dallas. With close to 5,000 registrants in attendance, Frisco ISD-TV is honored to have received national recognition.
