Frisco ISD Works to Help New Students Adjust
Frisco ISD added more students than any other district in Texas from October 2015 to October 2016, approximately 2,600 students. Another 2,500-plus have moved in since then, with enrollment expected to reach 64,000 students by 2020.
Helping students transition to a new school and district is an important part of FISD’s efforts to meet the needs of the whole child. That means meeting a student’s social, emotional and physical needs, as well as their academic ones.
Studies show students who feel like they belong do better academically. Events and activities across the District help students get connected to their school and each other. READ MORE
Angel Program Supports FISD Students
Volunteers are busy sorting through truckloads of donations for Frisco ISD students in need. The annual Angel Program, coordinated by local non-profit With Love It’s a Small World, will benefit more than 1,500 FISD students this year.
Area businesses and organizations join FISD students, parents and employees in donating clothes, toys and other gifts for each angel. The donations are then sorted and prepared for distribution in mid-December.
“We are so fortunate to live here, many of us don’t realize how many children are in need,” said Kim Gage, a volunteer with Frisco Women’s League. “But when you come here and see all these bags and the children they represent, and think that without this program, they may not have a Christmas, it’s really impactful.”
Frisco ISD is grateful for all donors and volunteers who make a difference in the lives of our students and families.
